If used immediately, AEDs can improve the chances of survival by up to 80% for someone experiencing cardiac arrest. 


Tarras has AEDs at two locations. 

  • Tarras Country Store 

  • Tarras Community Church

  • Buy orange waste bags from Tarras Country Store. 

  • Borrow the key to the site from the Tarras Country Store.


There are also Waste Transfer Stations in Cromwll and Wanaka.

Illegal rubbish dumping is increasing around Tarras.  If you notice any suspicious behaviour, note as many details as possible and contact the police.  You can also report illegal dumping to CODC. 


If you suspect that waste is hazardous, call  the Police on 105  and CODC on 03 440 0056 (24 hours, seven days).

Justices of the Peace

A Justice of the Peace (JP) is a community volunteer, able to witness signatures and certify documents. Helen Pledger is our JP in Tarras. 


You can access JP services at Cromwell Community House. Both Cromwell and Luggate also have JPs in the community.

Recycling

The Recycling Station is next to the Tarras Rural Fire Station.  You can recycle:

  • Glass, bottles and cans

  • Paper and flattened cardboard

  • Specific grades of plastics (check signs at the station)


You can also take your recycling to Cromwell and Wanaka Waste Transfer Stations.
